- Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP)
- Radiologic Findings
- Chest radiograph shows patchy, ill-defined increased opacities in both lungs. High-resolution CT image shows patchy but extensive ground-glass opacity throughout both lungs. Scattered foci of consolidation, thin-walled cysts are also noted.
The PCR test for Pneumocystis jirovecii of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid was positive. GMS staining of BAL fluid revealed pneumocystis jirovecii organisms.
